A Most Hospitable Hostelry….Mick and I had heard so many good reports of Lakeside Lodge that one rainy morning during Songkran we decided to head out to Chaknork Lake. We wanted to discover for ourselves the delights of this surprising part of Nongprue and the boutique 4-roomed Lakeside Lodge in particular.
 Approximately 8 km. heading east from Sukhumvit Road , nestling on the edge of a silver lake is the picturesque sight of this small inn resembling an English hunting lodge. It is the concept of the affable William Gibbs and his charming wife, On, who in only four months have created this hostelry of character and huge appeal. The Sundowner Terrace is the location for this small exclusive restaurant. Here you can sink into comfy sofas, linger a while and sip a sundowner or two whilst enjoying the peace and tranquility of the setting. The menu features fried garlic mussels (B.200), salmon either smoked or grilled, spaghetti, rump steak, fresh salads and assorted sandwiches. Ham on the bone with pickles, salad and fried potatoes is a popular item and has become a firm favourite (B.300) while the Thai menu offers an approved selection of preferred dishes. However, as William explained, their forte is for pre-arranged lunches and dinners. Just give William a call and discuss your requirements. Numbers from two to twenty or more can be catered for in this restful restaurant. Sunday lunchtimes they specialise in traditional English roasts (B.500 for 3 courses) of either beef, lamb, pork or salmon. This most social event commences with canapes on the terrace overlooking one of the most scenic views in the area. William promotes the feeling of being a guest at his house party rather than a client at a restaurant. The “home from home” ambiance is warm and welcoming and the setting sensational. To get there: Drive down Sukhumvit Road towards Sattahip and then take Soi 87 on the left, shortly after passing Lotus. This is known as Soi Paradise. Follow the road for about 6 kms and on the right hand side there is sign for Swiss Sabai, take this road which will lead to Lakeside Lodge. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
